Protecting what’s great, Growing what’s next

Hi, I’m Evan Sorensen. I’m a 17-year-old student at Corner Canyon High School, and I’m running for the two-year seat on Draper City Council. I’m running to protect our public land, support smart and inclusive growth, and help make Draper a city where people of all incomes feel safe, welcome, and heard.

about me

I’ve lived in Draper for most of my life, and I’ve never wanted to leave. As I enter my senior year of high school, I want to give back to the city that’s shaped who I am. I’m running because Draper is growing fast, and I want to help guide that growth in a way that’s inclusive, thoughtful, and community-centered.

I’m a strong supporter of The Point Project, which has the potential to bring economic growth, opportunity, and innovation to our region. I believe Draper can be a place where people of all ages and incomes feel welcome and secure—without sacrificing the high quality of life we value so deeply.

I come from a middle class family, we were fortunate to move here 13 years ago, but not every family gets that same chance. That needs to change. I’ll fight for policies that expand access, protect open spaces, and ensure local government is transparent and responsive.

I also believe it’s time for Draper’s youth to have a voice. Electing me would bring new energy, new ideas, and stronger engagement between city government and the next generation.
